DR. K. SIVAN : A TRUE INSPIRATION

                   DR. K. SIVAN'S JOURNEY

FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO REACHING THE SKY

Kailasavadivoo Sivan or K. Sivan, popularly known as "Rocket Man" is an Indian space scientist and the present Chaiperson of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Sivan is known for his significant contribution to the development of cryogenic engines for India's space program.

Dr. K. Sivan got more and more popular and famous with the Chandrayan 2 mission. Right ??
Of course, there may be many people who are still unaware of him or his achievements. But, to me his personality is quite interesting and appealing.  and should be acknowledged by everyone as a source of inspiration.
From humble beginnings to reaching the sky; isn't it quite amazing?

He deserves more popularity, respect and recognition than a film star. Why?  Because he is a real Hero of our nation. He treated  himself as an "Indian first, then Tamil". Can you imagine how much struggle, Sivan has faced in his life to be the person he is today.
First, I would like to convey my best regards to his parents, who gave birth to such a bright child. They deserve a grand salute.
Sivan was born and brought up in a village set up. He used to walk barefoot, wear dhotis to school and even college. For the first time he used a 'chappal'/ slippers and trousers ,when, he started studying Engineering courses in the Madras Institute of Technology. His schooling was completed in the local Tamil medium government schools only. His father was a farmer and was doing mango business. Sivan was strictly ordered to study only in the nearby schools and colleges. Because he was supposed to help his father every day after school hours and in the entire summer vacations. Though Sivan had interest in the Engineering courses, his father was unable to fund the course fee. So, Sivan had to pursue simple B.Sc. degree. He had never gone to any tuition or coaching classes. A self made, self taught and a hardworking person became the first graduate in his family. He wasn't bothered about what he didn't get. He excelled in whatever he was given to do.

At this point, his father decided to allow him to go for Engineering courses at any cost. He preferred to sell his land for this. Thus he completed his B.E. in Aeronautical Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology and M.E. in Aerospace from IISC, Bengaluru in 1982.
He joined ISRO ( Indian Space Research Organisation) and became a part of PSLV Project to contribute immensely towards end to end mission planning, mission design, mission integration and analysis. Subsequently he completed his Ph. D from IIT, Bombay (Mumbai) in 2006.

Dr. Sivan played an important role in developing the strategy that helped steer Mars Orbiter Spacecraft towards Mars. In his career, spanning over three decades, Sivan has worked in various projects and has held many responsibilities like, Group Director, MSSG, Project Director and Deputy Director. It was Sivan's expertise that gave ISRO the ability to send 104 satellites in a single mission, setting a world record on February 14, 2017.
Sivan is honored with many awards including Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa), Dr, Vikram Sarabhai Research Award, ISRO merit award. He was appointed as the Chief of ISRO in January, 2018. Under his chairmanship, ISRO successfully launched Chandrayan 2. However, he was disheartened, when Lander Vikram lost communication with ISRO. Despite the setback in Chandrayan 2 landing, 95% of the mission was successful. K. Sivan and all the ISRO scientists deserve a GRAND SALUTE for their immense contribution and efforts in making India proud through space missions. He is still analyzing the situation of ISRO  losing connection with Vikram Lander. And according to him, it will not affect the future plannings of GAGANYAN 2022.

From being a humble son of a farmer to reaching the sky, K. Sivan's journey is surely inspiring.

Interesting features of Bhubaneswar: a Temple City VS. Smart City

What are some important and interesting features of                    Bhubaneswar?? To an outsider, it may puzzle, whether Bhubaneswar is only a city full of temples,i.e. temple city, or it's something considered to be a smart city.  Thus it's my privilege to share a clearer perspective of it, being a resident of Bhubanswar. Yes, you heard it right. It's not only a culturally rich temple city but also one of the globally ranked smart cities. HISTORY: Well, let me start with its Foundation Day being celebrated on April 13, as on this date in 1948, the capital of Odisha was shifted from Cuttack to Bhubaneswr. It has a history of over 3000 years, emerging with thhe Mahameghabahana Chedi dynasty around 2nd century BCE. It's popularly known as 'Mandiramalini' or the Temple City of India. Because, it has innumerous temples situated on its periphery since time immemorial. In fact, the city, is said to h...
