A LEGENDARY FIGURE-- SAHADEB DAS [The untold story in History]

HOMAGE TO LATE SHRI SAHADEB DAS

At the outset, it's my humble request to all to kindly pray that his soul rests in peace for ever."

A great freedom fighter, social worker, reformer and activist, late Shri Sahadeb Das was born in 1899.
As Mahatma Gandhi to India ......as Sai baba to Shiridi .... as Gopabandhu Das to Odisha... similarly he was to Aul, Kendrapara. In fact, people in that locality admired him more than Gopabandhu Das.It can be verified through evidences. Because, he was no less than the others in fighting for the freedom of the nation. He was imprisoned several times during the British rule. He had completely neglected his family for the sake of society.
After getting married for 16 years, he was blessed with his one and only daughter, Kunjalata Das.
Most of the time he was out of home, doing social work. Hardly had she got any affection, he passed away in 1961 leaving his wife Radhamani and a small child to struggle ever after. There was no question of women empowerment at that point of time. So they led quite a miserable life.

As my mother (Bou, as addressed by all her children....two sons and two daughters) was the only successor to Sahadeb Das, at least it was expected that she should have benefited by the government. Instead, she was always in a miserable condition full of sorrows and constant fear. She could not live long and had a premature death. Sorry, I may be wrong to mention about her here.
But, I must admit, I have never seen a woman like her who sacrificed a lot for others. Really, both father and daughter were great souls. I was so attached to her that her sudden death just after 1.5 months of my marriage, put me in a trauma. It was a long period of depression in my life, during which I constantly missed her every moment. My life was full of sufferings and struggles which affected my family a lot. After long, I happened to come in contact with two very nice people who helped me to come out of the trauma through their counseling sessions.

Well you must be wondering why I am mentioning all this??

                                                                                                    NUAGAON SENIOR BASIC SCHOOL, NAMOUZA
PREMISES

During his tenure as the first MLA from Aul constituency, Shri Sahadeb Das had put in best efforts towards the development of the society. There was no school in Namouza(consisting of nine villages). Senior Basic School was established by him through which people were  greatly benefited. His most important contribution was RING BANDH which relieved the victims who were severely and frequently affected by floods. Of course, a few schools and colleges can be found in his names. And even today, there are some people who try to pass his legacy to the future generations to come.

But my point is this that isn't it injustice on the part of govt. not to have included his name in History like others? If you search the internet, you can find a list of MLAs from Aul constituency, but sadly there is no record of the first MLA, i.e. Sahadeb Das. Till now he is not being recognized. And has any one thought of the whereabouts of his successors? Is it due to their honesty, that they are suffering sheer injustice?
Many people are getting benefited by the govt. policies and reservations. They are maintaining luxurious lives, getting govt. jobs , having their own houses and bungalows, so on and so forth. But what about we, the successors of such a personality who completely sacrificed for the freedom of our nation and for the betterment of the society? Isn't it the duty of the society or the govt, to reciprocate in terms tracing his successors and help them who have been subjected to great injustice.

  1. It is really disheartened to learn about this. The sacrifice must be acknowledged and his successor should be supported.

Quora World Meetup 2020 I'm glad to share my thoughts and feelings: Today (August 13, 2020) I was able to attend the official Quora World Meetup 2020 online. It was an amazing experience for me being a panelist among a few other top/popular/enthusiastic contributors. It  will be a lifetime memory for me. I had  never attended any previous Meetups,  even at the city level, that's Quora Bhubaneswar Meetup.  This was my first ever meetup. It was a dream come true. It's really overwhelming  As I was alwas very curious to know everything, gain knowledge about the causes and effects, I kept on searching Google to quench my thirst for knowledge.  Luckily I stumbled upon Quora a couple of times.
